About the artist
Liverpool based artist Stephen Collett has been interested in all forms of art since he sold his first painting at the age of 5. All through his schooling years it was clear that he was destined for a career in The Arts. He won several prizes for his work in school, claiming the Art prize at GCSE and A Level. Stephen finished at the top of his class in A-level Art, and then went on to study Architecture at the University of Liverpool for before becoming a full time Artist in 2006.
Stephen now lives and works in Liverpool and has worked on projects with many businesses and charities such as the TUC, NSPCC and the NHS, he has also hosted a series of Master Classes at the Walker Art Gallery. Stephen operates his own printing and framing business and an Art Gallery space in Liverpool, he also works closely with UK Trade and investment and the Chamber of Commerce to instigate and maintain international, relationships between European cities?
Creative Sectors
As well as undertaking several public art projects and artist in residence schemes he is frequently involved in Liverpool's thriving arts scene and is regularly commissioned to deliver commercial projects such as Magazine and DVD covers. More recently he has been working with some of Liverpool's major property developers, as well as assisting the design team in a bid to build the New Royal Liverpool Hospital.
Although Stephen has a very distinctive style of painting it is applied to varying degrees in his paintings depending on his subject matter, this makes him a very versatile Artist who tackles most subjects from cityscapes to portraiture. He prides himself on painting light and works freely claiming that "If the light is correct, the form will not be far behind."
Stephen exhibits his work regularly in galleries in Liverpool as well as undertaking solo exhibitions in London, Paris, Berlin, and New York. |
